Welcome....
to the chaotic and often strange life of a Quasi, Clumsy Spiritual Warrior, Dan Abernathy. This is the weekly Newsletter where I share with you my voice, be it in words, art, or my collections of oddities, fascinations, desires and obsessions. Here I will make available 98% of all my perspectives, be they fluid and random, meandering and incomplete, or things I have completed and offering. They other 2% I keep to himself, archived and a gift for the scholars and naysayers to decipher later on. This will all be delivered to you via the web, whether I am roaming the road in his converted 1991 International school bus, The Chool Bus, home in Pinedale, Wyoming or briefly hanging my hat in another dusty corner of the world.

Hello This Morning!
“Each moment of where I am, I inhale deeply as I breathe in every second around me. Everything I see and feel now I want to eject into the all of me, as I won’t glance back and wish that I had ” - dbA
Downtown Farmers Market - Salt Lake City, Utah
On yet another trip to Salt Lake City, where I have been poked, prodded, EKGed, Angiogramed, X-rayed, MRIed and had part of my genitialia shaved by a man with more facial hair and body mass then myself, and I still don’t know much more then I did a few months ago. But, I was in the City of Salt at the right time and was able to take a walk though the Downtown Farmers Market. This farmers market has been going on for over 25 years and is nothing short of great fun to meander through the crowds looking, smelling and tasting the things they have to offer, plus the music.
Street performers or Busking are on just about every corner of the Farmers Market to stimulate your ears while your pallet is still intoxicated with the fresh food being handed to you from all directions.
Busking, claimed an English word, meaning to entertain on the street or public place, but its true orgins are from Italy, “buscare” to procure, and Spain, “buscar” to look for and seek. Street Performers are Busking, Playing music or performing on the street for money.
The Chool Bus
Notes from a vagabond lifestyle and living on the road in a converted school bus, dubbed, “The Chool Bus,”
This story begins on my last trip back to Wyoming from an art festival tour in Texas, New Mexico and Arizona. Each day my ass and back would say hello to numbness, pain and discomfort. I vowed to not do another long road trip in the Bus until I found better seating arrangements. I really don’t think my ass and back could stay intact for another one. Being a vagabond in a 1991 converted school bus is quirky and cool, but the seats they planted the school bus drivers in were not designed for comfort. I think the thought behind the strategy was to insure that all bus drivers remained in an ill-tempered mood.
So when I returned back to the Cowboy State I went on the search for a seat. This is where family comes into the story. My nephew, Cody Abernathy has a trucking company, Twin Guns Enterprise, in Rifle Colorado, so I let him know what I was looking for. A few months back I get a phone call from Cody telling me that he had bought new seats for his trucks and had saved one of the old ones for me. I was thrilled and knowing I was going to be close, doing the Art Festival in Glenwood Springs, I could pick it up. I did the show, stayed with Cody and his wife Suzanne, was able to get acquainted with his boys and picked up the seat. Here again is where family comes in. We never talked the seat all weekend, but as I was leaving on Monday we went out to his truck yard to pick it up. There it was sitting in a box, one brand new air seat for me. I thought I was getting one of his used ones, but Cody decided he needed to take care of his Uncle and gave me a brand new one. My ass is the first butt to be planted on it, and with every long distant mile I cover now, my buttocks and back will be thinking of you Cody. But it’s more than that; my heart is what really maters and it loves you. Long before my ass ever touched the new air seat you gave me!
