Welcome....

to the chaotic and often strange life of a Quasi, Clumsy Spiritual Warrior, Dan Abernathy. This is the weekly Newsletter where I share with you my voice, be it in words, art, or my collections of oddities, fascinations, desires and obsessions. Here I will make available 98% of all my perspectives, be they fluid and random, meandering and incomplete, or things I have completed and offering. They other 2% I keep to himself, archived and a gift for the scholars and naysayers to decipher later on. This will all be delivered to you via the web, whether I am roaming the road in his converted 1991 International school bus, The Chool Bus, home in Pinedale, Wyoming or briefly hanging my hat in another dusty corner of the world.

Hello This Morning!

I am constantly amazed with how silent confidence is displayed and even more amazed how insecurities are advertised so boldly.    - dbA

Words Of Wisdom – Words of too Much Wisdom

Overlooking what is, to find the good in someone makes little sense. Look at the real and see the true. Find the person with all the dents bruises and scars. This is the real person, the one standing, waiting naked and afraid for you to see them. Open your heart and mind to except these real people as they are and see their whole person that is hiding from you, the one hidden from themselves. - dbA

15 Minutes From Last Week

I met some fun Road Warriors yesterday, travelers living on the open road. Hemmi is a street musician and his girlfriend Megon gets the people they meet in their journeys to tag their van, which I did! We talked a bit and I gave them the new issue of the Contributor. This was the highlight of the day and I won’t forget the 15 minutes I shared in their space. I hope that I see them again, somewhere down the road.

What is fantastic is sharing this moment in my world, evoked emotion in the world of a dear friend!

“Your post today hit me right in the heart and I must share. I had a dear friend who passed over about 15 years ago. He was a firm believer in past and future lives, so perhaps I know him again as a whole new person. When I read of you meeting these people on the road and spending a brief 15 chatting and sharing, and how you said you would carry them and the experiences with you, I immediately thought of what Tom would say to that. He would have no doubt that you'd known them before in another life, and that's why you felt so comfortable with them and so happy to see them and to know them again. You will never forget them because you still remember them from another time. I can't put it eloquently like he would - but I think you get my feelings.

Happy day Dear Dan. Love you and travel safe xoxo” ~ Jeanne

Poetry from an Anti-Conformist and Outlaw Poet

As poetry is a passion, I constantly submit my poetry to different literary journals, both online and to print collections. Last week I had two poems, Cicada and Troubadours, excepted by Outlaw Poetry. As I have had my poetry excepted at Outlaw Poetry a few times, I am now listed in the permanent archives collection.

Featured Poem of the Week

Cicada

Bukowski wrote,

you are not a writer

or a poet

until you use the word,

“cicada.”

So I produced a sound

from vibrating

the membranes

on the underside

of my abdomen.

It was shrill,

It was loud,

so loud

that Charles himself

could hear it.

But, no one else

seemed to notice,

nor did they seem to care. - dbA

Cicada was recently published at Outlaw Poetry
