Totem poles are created by First Nations of the Pacific Northwest to represent ancestry, histories, people and events. Totem poles are typically created out of red cedar, and would be erected to be visible within a community.
Spiritually, totemism is a belief in which humans are said to have kinship, or a mystical relationship with a spirit being. such as an animal or plant. The entity, or totem, is thought to interact with a given kin group or an individual and to serve as their emblem or symbol.
A Black crow is considered a messenger of the gods, and some people believe that seeing a single black crow can be a sign to pay attention to inner guidance. Crows hold complex symbolic meaning, often representing transformation, change and destiny. As social birds, they fit heavily in global mythology and folklore. Many Native American tribes saw crows as wise spirit guides and good omens.
Crows represent death, danger, misfortune, and illness but also rebirth, self-reflection, intelligence, and loyalty, and as such can be both good and bad omens. Crows have carved their place into mythology, literature, and popular culture.
