The American Buffalo skull stands as a reminder of this great animal, which gives completely of itself for others. It is a symbol of self-sacrifice and gives until there is nothing left. It is considered powerful talismans, providing protection, good luck and  reflects a higher mental ability to remain connected to mother earth. The American Buffalo skull was used for sacred ceremonies, serving as channels for prayers.
 
The American Buffalo is the most revered animal to the Plains Indian. The Native Americans People of the plains were spiritually and physically interconnected with the American Buffalo. Tatanka provided abundance in the form of food, clothing, medicine, tools and shelter.
 
The eagle is considered the strongest and bravest of all birds. For this reason, its feathers symbolize what is highest, bravest, strongest, and holiest. It has strong medicine. An eagle's feathers are given to honor, and the feathers are displayed with dignity and pride. They are handled with great regard. 
 
The Eagle is the highest flying bird, the one closest to the Creator, which brings messages back to us on earth. It is whispered that the eagles were messengers from the Creator. It is believed that the eagle feather could help to connect and communicate with ancestors and spirits who had walked on. They represent the freedom of your mind and heart and your ability to travel, change and move through life freely. It is a symbol of the Great Spirit who is above all and from whom all strength and power flows.
 
When a painted red dot was placed on an eagle feather is symbolizing that the warrior killed an enemy. In contrast a completely red colored feather symbolizes a warrior that has been injured in battle.

This piece is drawn on cold pressed steel using acrylic paint pens. Acrylic paint is used for spot coloring. The background metal is rusted and painted. Allowing the paint to mix with the rust creates a unique, weathered color and expression. The edges are wrapped in patinaed copper. The back is finished and has D- Rings for hanging. Overall size is Approximately 37” X 37”
