The Life and Times

This would be the random thoughts, often meandering and incomplete, of Dan Abernathy. This is "my space dot something." A place to keep everyone up on what's going on in my life and how my mind is working, or what state of chaos and confusion that I am in. Here are my thoughts, rants, introductions, new images and projects I am working on and anything else that I want to place here. Here there are no rules! This will be like opening up the mind of Dan Abernathy and looking in, for some entertaining, and wonderment. For others fear and bewilderment. I will also be sharing excerpts from Trolling For Coyotes, a book that has nothing to do with coyotes, just me.

Be advised; I am a atrocious speller and for this I apologies, but I am also to old to really care, or try to learn how to be better. I rely on spell check and friends to proof my spelling, If you find something smile let me know, I'll be smiling when I hear it. Thanks dan.

Complex Simplicity

Things are always more complicated than they seem ... and they're also always far simpler. It all depends on what level we look at. Examine events on too microscopic a scale, get distracted by day-to-day ephemera, try to do too many tasks at once, turn everything into a crisis --- and life becomes impossibly complex. Or focus on what's really important --- and life is suddenly simple. Most of what we worry about is unworthy of us. Some situations, individually or in conjunction, are critical. Keep watch for them. Relax & be alert.

Self Satisfaction
Self satisfaction implies being satisfied. Being happy with your position or situation. If your satisfaction is dependent on someone else's, this is not only dissatisfaction it is dysfunctional. This concept or mentality runs deep through society. For a victory to be had there must be a defeat. Sadly this comes into play in everyday life as we have interaction with other people. So many are living this life of dissatisfaction and in an attempt for some type of self improving victory they try to defeat, or place the people around them below their own unhappiness. This way of discontent causes a ripple affect that knows no end. But, more important to learn and remember is the even stronger are the gestures of freedom and kindness. These pure simple acts have lasting effects the forever hold tight. - dba

Meet Pjily she is going to be my travel companion wherever I go and I will be documenting her travels along the way. The idea originated form a series of events, but came from  a friends friend or companion. You have seen him in this blog, if not look in the past to find him. His name is Dashboard, and though this first images came from the resting place (a dashboard) Pjily will be mobile and seen in many different places.

Positive Crossroads
As a group and as individuals we are in a constant state of transition. Man as a whole have been in transition sense time began and will continue to do so as time goes on. Inside this mass, this nucleus of people is the individual transformation. This is the one we must listen to. If we allow ourselves, and in some cases are allowed, we will understand that there is much more to this life, to ourselves then we ever imagined.
    As individuals we come to crossroads of all different types. We must be very conscious as we make a decision to keep moving forward, in choosing the right path. Now more then ever it is imperative that we evolve to a higher way of thinking. The world as will as our lives are a reflection of our limitations and our enlightenment. We have to expand our thinking and constantly attempt to put the thoughts into action, strive to move forward to find love and happiness. If are limitations are aloud to control our lives and our thoughts, how can we freely move towards the light. If we allow the limitations of others to control our lives how will we step beyond this space void of living light.
    Each person has a choice to make at his or her crossroads. The only choice is one of life and happiness. If this road is not traveled then we are living the limitations of ourselves, or worse someone else. If we are truly living our life, the illumination from that action will light the road for many others. Do not be controlled by negative impulses and feelings, become sensitive, become aware to the subtle change in positive vibration. - dba

One of the best times, for me, when on the road is mornings spent in a coffee shop where no ones knows me and I can sit enjoy good coffee, watch people, contemplate and write.

Death Trap in Motion
Leave it to man to put himself into a fancy box with comfortable seats. An aerodynamic box built out of steel, glass and plastic, with wheels to call it transportation. Then man places a motor in this box to make it move faster so the movement can be referred to as speed. Place hundreds of these boxes onto a paved corridor, where they are all forced to move close together at high rates of speed. Now add natures elements, mans addictions, loss of interest, cell phones, text messaging and the thought of invincibility. Someone has a very sadistic sense of humor. - dba

The Dollar Store
I went through the checkout isle at the Dollar Store today. Hanging on a rack with hopes of a compulsive purchase was a pregnancy testing kit. For reason that probably only drift into my head, I found this strangely bizarre. Is the Dollar Store the place for acquiring pregnancy tests, condoms, or suppositories? Is the compulsive purchasing corridor the place to display them. I find it strangely akin to having an ambulance-chasing lawyer bargain shop for breast augmentation. - dba

There's a Time
There comes a time, and it will be known, that we have to go away. This quest usually begins with a type of yearning, a feeling of loss, a time of discontentment with your surroundings. An empty feeling with what is at hand. The urge to seek the grail overcomes all thought. It is a time for new frontiers, a time to find ourselves, or who we are in the now, where we want to live in the now. It is a time for growth as a person as we find some direction towards the next level. We seek, so we become the seeker in search for a better way, a higher truth. We seek a utopia, which will not come from a material world but from an inner spirit. We expand consciousness we reach for enlightenment. We are looking for a perfect world and to preserve a state of nirvana. It is a utopian dream of perfection, peace and bliss. Not that this can be found, or achieved in the realm around us, the area that our space resides in. It resides inside us. But to truly find the utopian state of bliss that we seek, our surroundings must be conducive to the environment that we are seeking. If we live in an atmosphere that is damaging or un-stimulating to your person, the path we are seek becomes deem, the destination unreachable. If our surroundings are more euphoric and conducive to who we are the journey will be brighter, our goal more achievable. - dba

I walked by an old Volkswagen Bug the other day. As I looked inside I thought of the time I had sex in the backseat of Randy’s Volkswagen Bug it was canary yellow. Have you ever seen the space, which is referred to and encompasses the backseat of a VW Bug? The front seats were folder forward, but I don't remember where the Bug was parked. - dba

Let it Go
When we empty our minds, let our fear and emotions go, drop the ego and become calm we will be open to hear what is being said. When we focus to hard on a problem trying to figure it out we may never find the answer. Open our hearts towards bliss and wait fro the answer. It is usually right in front of us. When we are awake and not fearing where we are looking, the answers are here and now.

Our Perception
People often talk of reality and what it means to them. What reality is depends on our level of perception. Our perception is our reality and is nothing more then our ability to become aware by using our five senses. We have to understand what we see, hear, taste, touch and smell. Our perception is based, or measured on how a life experience is, or was processed. If we measure and judge through a small hole our perception is limited. Often it is used, or seen through the eyes of others. However, when we open our mind and let all our senses come alive, it will take our reality to a much greater level. Then you can begin to travel beyond the senses. - dba

A Comfortable Sweater
A "Damaged Goods" is a term, a preconceived notion brought on by the egotistical standards of other people. It is a sweater put on us by people and a society that fears change and individuality. What is the difference between the sweater bought from a top shelf, name brand store and the one found in a cardboard box at Browse & Buy?
    The name brand sweater is purchased in hopes of becoming part of the team, a team that society is telling you to be on. By feeding the ego of what we are supposed to like, to be like, so there is nothing wrong with us. So we fit in, in the eyes of others. Except, for losing our identity and fearing who we really are.
    If we pick the sweater, form the cardboard box that is frayed, musky, stretched and folded wrong it is done because deep down we know, we are being our true self. We put it on because it feels good. Wearing it gives us a sense of peace. It is comfort, it's a friend. It is a statement of individuality, of caring and love. It can be passed on with the knowledge that who ever touches it will receive the same love. Is this damaged goods? – dba - 88
