Welcome to
the chaotic and often strange life of Dan Abernathy. This is my
platform for random thoughts, often meandering and incomplete, rants,
praise, love, words of no meaning, and words of too much meaning. This
is my voice. It is my collection of oddities, fascinations,
photographs, desires, and obsessions – a road map of sorts, tracking a
vagabond who walks in dreams of a pure, hedonistic life. This is a
place to keep those interested informed not only of what's happening in
my life, but also what is igniting in the gray matter of my mind.
Hopefully, you will get a glimpse into the state of my chaos and
confusion. Here there are no rules! By entering and staying, you will
be opening doors to my mind and looking in. Some will find this venture
entertaining and filled with wonderment. The unknowing or unwilling to
know will find pure confusion, fear, and bewilderment.
This blog is a love letter to
everyone and anyone that may choose to
spend some time here. It is a love letter as true love is honest and
that is all you will find here, 98% honesty of who and what I am. The
other 2% is going to the beyond with me, so the scholars and naysayers
can figure the last bit out.

Hello
this morning!
If you think the way you have always
thought,
how will you ever leave where you have
been.

Becoming
Quiet
Sometimes I become slightly concerned
with the realization that all the writers I hold to the highest acclaim
have taken their own lives to meet their conclusion. They replaced
their thoughts and words with the recoil of a loaded gun splattering
their talent into the winds. Why are these minds the one I
seemingly am attracted to? Did they tire of putting out their words for
all to see and had no place else to go themselves? When they became
quiet, thinking there was nothing else to say, did they leave this
platform looking for something on another level that would give them
greater thought and inspiration. When I think of this I stroll into the
realm of wonder that I will become quit and loose inspiration and start
looking for another level. Will I want to leave? Will my choice become
confused and come too soon, before I have finished what I'm trying to
say? Before I know what I'm trying to say. But for now, I am content in
knowing I can just ramble on and on and on. - dba

Population 123
I want to live in a small town with the
population of 123. I have found
a quiet town matching this size of 123 and moved in. Then the
population increased to 124. This makes it lose the attraction of a
village of 123. I have searched for towns having the smaller population
of 122, but these towns seem to be lack that certain something. They do
not have the balanced Zen like ambiance, nor do they have the calming
aura that a normal town of 123 has. This is a terrible wanting need; a
standard has been sat that cannot be achieved. Perhaps it is just
another confused quest for the impossible balance of my mind. - dba

Shinny White Porcelain Urinal
I have seen it all, as the saying goes,
bit I know is just for now. There will be more astonishing and stupid
sights to be astounded by in the future. I walked into the men's room
in a local bar and leaning on the side, propped against one of the
shinny white porcelain urinals, in the long row of shinny white
porcelain urinals, was a man pissing with no hands. His uncircumcised
and knurly looking penis hung loose and freely aloud to relieve itself
on the caged blue deodorizer, lying helplessly in the bottom of the
shinny white porcelain urinal without any guidance from the owner. The
man standing nonchalantly was texting, what had to be an extremely
important message to some known associate. Though baffled and confused
at his actions, my mind quickly raced to wonder what the recipient of
the text message was doing. - dba

The Aspen Grove
We walk through the fall aspen grove
with the sound of dying leaves
crunching under our feet with each step. The path is hidden but we
continue to move deeper into this dense cluster. I look up and where
the leaves once hung and trembled in the gentle breeze and I see
nothing but white veins intertwined and blocking the sky. Here we stand
naked and feel the blood flowing through us, all around us. You want I
want. You don't I don't. We don't anymore so we stand feeling nothing
until the tangled arteries turn to lifeless intestines hanging limp and
bow to the ground moving with nothing but the slightest breeze. -

Move
Gently
Though there will always be
voices in your head,
you don't have to listen.
Move gently
from day to day.
Rest quietly
from night to night.
Discard the baggage
accumulated each week
and erase the emotional noise
being collected.
Let your mind become free.
Let your mind become safe. - dba

The
Toilet
Like a rat trapped in a hole-less metal
box we all wait for something to happen. Life, age, happiness, sorrow
and pain all move on and we stretch to reach. We cuss and complain but
it is all just past fingertips and we really know that our arms are not
getting any longer. What is real, what can be counted on without worry
of an end, is that night will fall and day will reappear. A comfortable
shoe makes for a better day. No shoes make for an even better day. A
shower is the best way to start the day, but diving into fresh water is
better. Sex is fun in the morning and wild at noon. Man will continue
his quest to fuck up the earth and the toilet will flush, although I
have seen the latter brimming way too often. – dba
