The Life and Times
This would be the random thoughts, often meandering and incomplete, of Dan Abernathy. This is "my space dot something." A place to keep everyone up on what's going on in my life and how my mind is working, or what state of chaos and confusion that I am in. Here are my thoughts, rants, introductions, new images and projects I am working on and anything else that I want to place here. Here there are no rules! This will be like opening up the mind of Dan Abernathy and looking in, for some entertaining, and wonderment. For others fear and bewilderment. I will also be sharing excerpts from Trolling For Coyotes, a book that has nothing to do with coyotes, just me.

Be advised; I am a atrocious speller and for this I apologies, but I am also to old to really care, or try to learn how to be better. I rely on spell check and friends to proof my spelling, If you find something smile let me know, I'll be smiling when I hear it. Thanks dan.

Complex Simplicity

Things are always more complicated than they seem ... and they're also always far simpler. It all depends on what level we look at. Examine events on too microscopic a scale, get distracted by day-to-day ephemera, try to do too many tasks at once, turn everything into a crisis --- and life becomes impossibly complex. Or focus on what's really important --- and life is suddenly simple. Most of what we worry about is unworthy of us. Some situations, individually or in conjunction, are critical. Keep watch for them. Relax & be alert.

Have Hope - Smile Big - Live Simply

february twenty seventh, two thousand nine

A shot from my second visit to Pinedale Dental. I have to say that Dr. Kevin Kunard and his whole staff truly Rock! I have never felt less pain inside any dental office ever. I'm here to shout that if you go to this office, there is no need to be afraid of a dentist anymore.

Small Town Picture Show
Living in a small town has the beauty of simplicity, a calming effect for the pace of life. It also makes the life you are living a viewing window for those that suffer boredom. Each individual life is a motion picture to be viewed by all. Sadly, the storyline can be construed by the viewers to achieve a false contentment for their own picture show.

In a completely sane world,
madness is the only freedom!

The latest.
I’m working with large images now. Not sure why,
but they seem to be appealing to me. This one is 40X70 inches.

Feeling the Heat
Some people change their minds; even change their ways when they see the shining from the light. Others think they feel the heat and merely run back into their safe zone. – dba

The Journey of Growth
Within ourselves, we all have the potential for full human growth. We should not ignore this potential, but rather become interested in, and want this growing pattern to happen. We also cannot become discouraged. Realize and understand it is a life long goal to achieve this growth. This journey requires numerous guides, which we may unknowingly seek. As each one comes into our lives, they bring a gift, a task, and a lesson. It is the responsibility of the individual to openly see, except and use what is being given for the achievement in becoming a better person.  -dba

I have had a very prolific week in the studio. Here is another piece completed.

Anonymity
I can no longer find a quit table in a busy building where I can sit think and write. Anonymity leaves when notoriety enters. – dba

I am imagination.
I can see what the eyes cannot see.
I can hear what the ears cannot hear.
I can feel what the heart cannot feel.

A Bare Shoulder

There is nothing more euphoric then lightly kissing the soft bare shoulder of the one that holds your heart. - dba-88

Journey of the Wondering Soul
When we commit to the life changing quest of deep soul purpose we are committing to a course that takes us away from the life we know, the life we have become accustom to. If this new journey is pure we will not return. Even in the grueling challenge that lurks ahead is not completely obtained on this life level we will not feel comfortable returning to the once ordinary. The journey for the wondering soul to unify self, to develop, expand and deepen our consciousness with awe and mystery is intriguing and is what ultimately maters. - dba

Sooner or later you must move down
an unknown road that leads beyond
the range of the imagination, and the
only certainty is that the trip has to be made.

— Bruce Catton

At the local dinner at Powell, Wyoming.
Looking for it!
To declare a stop to hatred and meanness I left my emotional load of love and hate before I put myself on fire. Personally I'm on a quest to rekindle my creativity, to find my imagination and place it back where it belongs. The quest is pure and welcomed, as I have seen sacred eagles guiding the way. I know that I belong outside the box as there is so much more room. As I Drive across the vast open plains I turn the sagebrush into an ocean of waves. The crows and ravens become albatross and I smile knowing that everything is going to be all right. I can release myself and allow my mind and soul to freely go wherever it chooses.

Time isn't a commodity, something you pass around like cake.

Time is the substance of life. When anyone asks you to give
your time, they're really asking for a chunk of your life.
Antoinette Bosco

Just returned from a quick road trip with brother Dave. We ended up in Bozeman Montana where Dave acquired a new Gibson. I was there to document the process, which will be coming live to this blog in the very near future. There will also be some of the crazy shooting that we did along the way. So please stay tuned,

Front & Back
A new creative piece of art, from the hands of my daughter, Erin.

The Key
When the old rusty iron door, that protects my heart, slammed shut you gave me back the key. The next morning I found that someplace along the journey home it had fallen out of my pocket and was lost. I wonder if any of the backup keys will ever open the door again. – dba-88

Life is too short to be living
somebody else's dream.
- Hugh Hefner

Sometimes just strange things happen when the sun goes down.

Where Has Compassion Gone
In exchange for our global community, which has more boundaries than ever before, we are excepting gifts, tokens and false leaders for honesty and compassion to humankind. Our playhouses, banks and corporations have become more important then the sole proprietor. Celebrities and fashion are more news worthy then the rice coop or the sole farmer trying to provide food.
What has happened to compassion, generosity, open mindness, loving kindness? These are all wonderful qualities to have, or to strive to acquire for yourself and others, but the quest seems to be dwindling. - dba

We learn more by looking for the answer
to a question and not finding it than
we do from learning the answer itself.

The power of simplicity and love.

Another piece of art from the hands of Erin!

Use Your Power Wisely
Honor yourself and respect others. Not a big task, but one that is becoming so commonly over looked. To move on, to grow in our lives we cannot manipulate, label, judge, or put down others, or yourself. Implement into this metaphor of the quest, the awareness that we all mater. Knowledge implies responsibility, the responsibility in claiming your own power and in doing so, to refrain from the actions that make you or others feel demeaned or belittled. Use this wisdom to influence those around you, and we will all begin to live in pure bliss. - dba
